Ticket Price: £250, including the training, catering during the day and the conference dinner on the 21st of September. Accommodation is not included.
Who?
Early career researchers, staff in junior industry roles, PhD researchers, postdoctoral researchers, and junior lecturers. This event will be suitable for all early career staff as an opportunity to upskill and engage with career development opportunities.
Aim
The UK Metamaterials Network’s Early Careers Conference’s mission is to breakdown barriers between industry and academia in the early careers metamaterials community. The conference aims to promote and embed a culture of collaboration and entrepreneurship within the UK metamaterials community, by developing a mutual understanding of the challenges, barriers and opportunities for technology adoption and upskilling future leaders in the field. Through the development and support of future leaders in metamaterials the conference with help to ensure the sustainability of a vibrant UK metamaterials ecosystem.
Why?
- Share innovative research through presentations, posters and discussions
- Remove or reduce barriers between industry and academia, sharing an understanding of different ways of working
- Upskilling the early career metamaterials community and future leaders in the field by providing training e.g. introductions to policy engagement and entrepreneurial skills.
Where?
The conference will be held at Reed Hall at the University of Exeter. A stunning grade II listed building, Reed Hall is a hidden treasure nestled amidst enchanting landscaped gardens.
Technical Posters & Demonstrators
If you wish to submit a presentation, poster or demonstrator to the conference showcase, please submit a 150 word abstract and title for inclusion in the booklet. You may submit this by emailing it to info@metamaterials.network
Commitment Fee
The registration fee for the conference will be £250. All invited attendees will be sent the registration email with the link to pay the registration fee. Please pay promptly on request as there are limited spaces (a maximum of 50 attendees) and if you do not confirm your place the place may be reallocated.

Access Fund
Travel and accommodation costs cannot be covered except in exceptional circumstances. If the cost of travel would prevent you attending, please contact info@metamaterials.network for information on how to apply to our access fund. All applications to the Access Fund must be made prior to the event.
