As part of the UK Metamaterials Network, the Manufacturing and Scale-Up (MSU) Special Interest Group have identified the need to develop and publish a road map for the manufacturing of metamaterials in the UK. The purpose of the road map is to identify manufacturing process technologies that can reliably and affordably produce multiscale structures over a wide range of length scales, whilst also examining the challenges and opportunities facing metamaterials manufacturing.

On Friday September 22nd the MSU SIG will hold one-day Workshop on Road Mapping for Metamaterials Manufacturing at the Centre for Additive Manufacturing, University of Nottingham. The purpose of this one-day workshop is to showcase some of the manufacturing technologies already being utilised for manufacturing of metamaterials in the UK (with a focus on additive manufacturing), but to also identify end user applications and challenges facing the scale-up of the manufacturing technologies. Central to this workshop is identifying gaps in manufacturing technologies which have not yet been identified for the UK metamaterial manufacturing road map. As such, we encourage attendees of the workshop to participate in lively discussions regarding metamaterial manufacturing in the UK.
