Join us for an interdisciplinary event that brings together leading experts in metamaterials and solar energy to explore innovative solutions for sustainable energy. Participants will hear from solar energy experts on the key material challenges faced in solar photovoltaic, solar thermal, and photocatalytic applications where metamaterials have potential to address.

Attendees from solar, optical and material backgrounds are welcome. We will delve into how metamaterials—engineered composite materials with unique electromagnetic properties due to their structure—can overcome current material limitations in solar energy applications. Topics covered include enhancements in solar photovoltaics, where metamaterials can boost light absorption range and energy efficiency; solar thermal technologies, which can benefit from advanced thermal management and selective absorption; and photocatalytic processes, where metamaterials may improve light-driven chemical reactions for solar fuel production.

This event offers a unique opportunity to discover synergies between these fields, draft initial idea proposals and push the boundaries of solar energy capabilities for a net zero future.

Why should I attend?

This event offers a unique opportunity to discover metamaterial opportunities for solar energy technology – hearing directly from solar energy experts and established researchers already carving routes between these topics. Those without prior experience or understanding of metamaterials are welcome to attend and learn about metamaterial capabilities and explore collaborations in this exciting field.
