Sandpit on the Complexities in the Development and Manufacture of Active Metamaterials

The event will focus on complexities in developing active metamaterials (modelling, simulation, manufacture, testing and integration) as this is a primary area of research that has been highlighted as a current and future challenge throughout the UKMMN active metamaterials roadmap. This sandpit will form the groundwork for a focused effort from the UK metamaterials community to tackle this priority area. It will directly feed into the active metamaterials session at the UKMMN conference where we hope to further refine this area with potential outcomes:

1. New grant ideas and potential collaborations
2. White paper highlighting UK’s potential in the subject
3. A detailed review paper on active metamaterials and their challenges
4. Launch of the Hackathon based on the challenges highlighted
